Dr Farrukh Rauf is our Chief Executive Officer and a consultant physician in respiratory medicine, practising in Birmingham and Solihull. He is Clinical Service Lead for Respiratory Medicine at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. Dr Rauf graduated from King Edward Medical College, Pakistan in 2003 and achieved his CCT in respiratory and general internal medicine in 2016. His clinical interests include sleep breathing disorders, bronchiectasis, and respiratory presentations including cough and breathlessness.
Dr Anbrin Farrukh is our Chief Medical Officer and an experienced GP working in Birmingham and Solihull. She graduated from King Edward Medical College, Pakistan in 2003 and achieved her CCT in General Practice in 2017. Dr Farrukh takes a special interest in women's health, perimenopausal symptoms management, and family planning. She is currently enrolled with the British Menopause Society and consistently receives excellent feedback from patients.
Dr Usman Ghani is the Clinical Service Lead for Stroke Medicine at University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust. He graduated from Dow Medical College, Pakistan in 2002 and holds triple accreditation in Stroke Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, and General Internal Medicine. Appointed Consultant in 2015 and awarded FRCP in 2018, Dr Ghani offers rapid-access TIA assessment, post-stroke follow-up, and stroke prevention consultations.
Dr Salma Ghani is a highly experienced General Practitioner with over two decades of clinical experience in the Solihull and Redditch area. She graduated from Rawalpindi Medical College, Pakistan in 2001 and achieved her CCT in General Practice in 2017. Dr Ghani holds the DRCOG and has a strong special interest in women's health, particularly perimenopause and menopause management. Patients describe her as calm, approachable, and attentive.
Dr Shahid Malik is an experienced GP Partner and RCGP accredited GP Trainer based in Worcestershire. He graduated from Pakistan in 2002, gained MRCP in 2008, and completed his CCT in General Practice in 2011. Dr Malik has developed special interests in diabetes management, dermatology including minor surgery, and musculoskeletal medicine. He is known for his calm, professional manner and evidence-based approach to care.
Professor Karamat is a consultant and honorary professor in diabetes and endocrinology at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. He has been a consultant since 2012 and is Training Programme Director for Diabetes and Endocrinology for Health Education West Midlands. He leads the Type 1 Diabetes service and is joint lead for regional islet transplantation. A Diabetes UK Clinical Champion, he has published extensively on ethnicity and diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and intensive insulin therapy.
Dr Sohail Q. Khan is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. He qualified from the University of Edinburgh and was awarded an MD by the University of Leicester for cardiac biomarker research. Following prestigious fellowship training in Toronto, Canada, Dr Khan specializes in complex coronary interventions including rotablation, IVUS, OCT, and laser atherectomy. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Birmingham and Fellow of multiple colleges.
Dr Sabah Ahmed is a highly experienced Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry based in Birmingham, working as a Community Perinatal Psychiatrist with Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Trust since 2018. She qualified from Leeds University in 1998 and gained her CCT in General Adult Psychiatry with endorsement in Liaison Psychiatry. Dr Ahmed is passionate about person-centred holistic care and has special expertise in women's mental health, perinatal mental health, PMDD, and perimenopause-related mental illness.

Rebecca Wagstaff is a specialist respiratory physiotherapist who qualified in 2004 from Brighton University. She has over 20 years of experience and completed a postgraduate diploma in respiratory medicine at the University of Birmingham. Rebecca currently works full-time at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham in a specialist respiratory team. Her areas of interest include bronchiectasis, asthma, COPD, and breathing pattern disorder.
Amie Lomas is an accredited Senior Respiratory Physiologist with 15 years of experience in respiratory healthcare across the West Midlands. She achieved her ARTP Spirometry Certification in 2013 and full qualification in 2019. In 2020, she completed a Diploma in Healthcare Science, achieving Degree Equivalence and professional accreditation with the Academy for Healthcare Science. Amie currently works at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham as Sleep Lead within the respiratory department.
Dr Afzal Khan is a Consultant Paediatrician with over 20 years of experience in general paediatrics, neonatal care, and paediatric cardiology. He practises in Birmingham and currently works at Good Hope Hospital, part of University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. He completed his medical degree at Guntur Medical College in 2002 and undertook specialist paediatric training in the West Midlands, including at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. He holds CCT in General Paediatrics and SPIN accreditation in Paediatric Cardiology. Dr Khan has specialist expertise in assessing children with chest pain, palpitations, heart murmurs, dizziness, and syncope, and performs paediatric echocardiography. He also manages a wide range of common paediatric conditions, including asthma, allergies, eczema, feeding issues, and growth or developmental concerns. He is committed to delivering compassionate, thorough, and child-centred care for every patient.
Emma Harrison is a Senior Respiratory Physiologist with 18 years of experience in respiratory healthcare. She began her NHS career in 2008 and completed a Diploma in Healthcare Science in 2020, achieving Degree Equivalence and professional accreditation with the Academy for Healthcare Science. Emma currently works full-time at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham as Quality Control Lead within the respiratory department, ensuring high standards of care and diagnostics.
